Dental hygiene treatment is billed according to the services completed and the amount of clinical time required. One unit of treatment time equals 15 minutes, while a half-unit represents up to 7½ minutes. Debridement commonly referred to as scaling and root planing are different procedures, but both are measured using the same units of time. When additional periodontal therapy is required, the appropriate procedure and number of units will be clearly explained before treatment continues.
The prices listed are starting estimates. Before beginning treatment, we’ll walk you through your individual recommendations and expected costs so you can feel comfortable and confident in your care.
You’ll also receive a detailed receipt to submit to your dental-benefits provider, with reimbursement depending on your individual plan.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
Your Dental Hygeine Visit
1. Welcome & Health History
We’ll review your medical and dental history, medications, sensitivities, and any concerns or changes since your last visit. This helps us make your care comfortable and appropriate for you.
2. Oral Assessment
Your teeth, gums, and oral tissues will be assessed. Periodontal measurements or dental images may be recommended when needed to help evaluate your oral health.
3. Personalized Care Plan
We’ll discuss what we find and explain the care recommended for your needs. Your cleaning is tailored to your oral health, comfort, and goals.
4. Scaling & Plaque Removal
Plaque and hardened buildup are carefully removed from the teeth and along the gumline. If your gums are inflamed or sensitive, you may notice some tenderness or bleeding during or after the appointment.
5. Polishing, When Appropriate
Polishing may be included when suitable to help remove surface stain and leave your teeth feeling smooth. It isn’t needed at every appointment.
6. Preventive Care
Fluoride treatment or other preventive options may be recommended based on your individual needs and risk factors. We’ll explain the options before proceeding.
7. Home Care & Next Steps
You’ll receive practical recommendations for brushing, interdental cleaning, and maintaining your oral health at home. We’ll review any findings and suggest a follow-up schedule suited to your needs.
Your appointment may vary depending on your oral health, treatment needs, and comfort.
Sparkle and Go Goodie Bag
Every client leaves with a little extra care.
Your goodie bag is filled with handpicked self care essentials that support your service and keep your smile feeling fresh. It is our way of saying thank you and making sure you feel looked after long after your appointment.

Fees are based on the services provided and the time required. The 2026 Ontario Dental Hygienists’ Association (ODHA) Suggested Fee Guide measures scaling/debridement in 15-minute units, with half-units for up to 7.5 minutes. Periodontal therapy, such as root planing, has separate service codes and is billed according to its own procedure time. Assessment and additional services, such as fluoride or stain removal, may be billed separately when provided. We’ll review your recommended care and fees with you before treatment.
Our fees are guided by the ODHA Suggested Fee Guide. It provides recommendations for independent dental hygiene practices; it isn’t a fixed or mandatory fee schedule. odha.on.ca
