Before attending the in-person training day, students will complete the self-study portion of the course covering the foundations behind professional tooth gem application. Students will learn tooth and enamel fundamentals, bonding principles, product and material knowledge, client suitability and contraindications, placement strategy, infection prevention and control, soft tissue safety, aftercare, longevity, removal, troubleshooting and professional boundaries.

The curriculum goes beyond application alone. Students will learn how to assess whether a tooth is suitable for a gem, understand the importance of preserving natural enamel, recognize situations where a service should be modified or declined, select appropriate materials and understand the factors that directly influence retention and longevity.

The course is built around evidence-based education and established principles of tooth structure and adhesive dentistry, providing students with an understanding of why each step matters, rather than simply giving them a procedure to memorize.

Once the self-study component is complete, students attend a one-day, in-person training session focused on developing practical application skills. Students are guided through the tooth gem service from start to finish, including client preparation, tooth selection, isolation and moisture control, surface preparation, bonding, gem placement, light curing, finishing and aftercare.

Training also focuses on the creative side of the service. Students will develop an understanding of placement, balance, symmetry and design so they can confidently create everything from subtle single-gem applications to customized multi-gem looks.

Professional tooth gems can be offered as a standalone business or added to an existing beauty, wellness or aesthetics service menu. With a low product cost per application and the ability to create customized, premium-priced designs, tooth gems offer an opportunity to build an additional stream of income from a skill that can continue to grow with experience and creativity.

Beyond the service itself, students are introduced to the foundations of building and operating a professional tooth gem business, including pricing, booking systems, documentation, consent, insurance, client communication, marketing, branding and professional positioning.

Students leave the program with more than a certificate. The goal is to develop the knowledge, practical technique and confidence needed to provide professional tooth gem services, create customized designs and build a client experience that encourages retention, referrals and repeat business.
